he truth is that many
opportunities are offered by
the uniqueness of South Africa
as a country with its natural
resources. The opportunities lie in the
potential that South Africa has in being
a rainbow nation (with many available
inherited skills) and the resources that are
available in terms of our game industry
in answer to the question by the WWF SA
Report on Agri-food Systems: “Facts and
Futures – How South Africa can produce
50% more food by 2050”. As far back
as 2013, Prof Webb (2013) estimated
that global livestock production will have
to double by 2050 to satisfy demands,
which requires a faster expected growth
than any other agricultural sector.
