The persistent lower rainfall in areas where
wildlife ranching is practiced raises the alarm that
this industry is indeed facing severe challenges
in terms of water availability, vegetation and
possibilities to sustain this industry. With yet
another uncertain rainfall season on the cards
for the latter part of 2019 (see seasonal forecast
discussion), a careful and conservative approach
will be necessary to ensure that existing resources
can be optimally used until conditions have
improved and herds can grow again. With the

the winter hunting season starting shortly, the
