- 4 Practical Implementation of The SCADA System Using NI
Instruments
To connect the SCADA system with the server and ensure that
acquisition and control signals are sent and received between them, the
following experiment was setup. The file size sent depends on signals
numbers and types (analog or digital) as in Table 3.6 and equation 3.21.
4.4.1 The Required Equipments
The hardware and software components that were required in the
practical part of this thesis were:
- Function generator (as Sensors): A sensor is a device that
measures a physical quantity and converts it into a signal which
can be read by an observer or by an instrument. There are many
types of sensors: Temperature, motion, and other sensors. Due to
lake of availability, sensors were compensated by a function
generator to generate input analog values that represent voltage,
current, frequency, and temperature that enter the DAQ card.
2. DAQ System: Data acquisition involves gathering signals from
measurement sources (sensors) and digitizing the signals for
storage, analysis, and presentation on a PC. Data acquisition
systems come in many different PC technology forms to offer
flexibility when choosing a system. There are many types: PCI,
PXI, PCI Express, PXI Express, PCMCIA, USB, wireless, and
Ethernet data acquisition for test, measurement, and automation
applications. Standard Industrial PCs can be used with the wide
range of PCI modules manufactured by National Instruments. In
