- (D) Begin by going up the left diagonal of the triangle (percent clay) until
you reach 30% (draw a horizontal line); at that point is one of the intercept
lines. Now, at the bottom of the triangle, find the 60% sand line (follow the
diagonal line); that is your second intercept line. Where the two lines meet is
the sandy clay loam area. You do not need to use the percent silt information
—only two of the percentages are necessary.
