Many problems in mathematics can be solved using a quadratic equation.
The strategy you can use is

Step 1: Represent the unknown usingxand the other unknown in terms
ofx.
Step 2: From the problem write expressions that are related to the
unknown.
Step 3: Write the quadratic equation.
Step 4: Solve the quadratic equation forx.

Recall that a quadratic equation has two solutions. Both solutions can
be answers to the problem; however, many times only one solution is
