Statistics

Statisticsis the science of conducting studies to collect, organize, analyze,

summarize, and draw conclusions from data. Thedatacan be numbers such

as weights, temperatures, test scores, etc., or observations such as colors of

automobiles, political affiliations, etc. A group of data values collected for a

particular study is called adata set. Statistics is used in almost all fields of

human endeavor.

In statistics, there are three commonly used measures of average. They are

the mean, median, and mode.

Themeanis the sum of the data values divided by the total number of data

values.

EXAMPLE:Find the mean of 8, 15, 19, 24, and 14.
