The Beast of Butchery appearsas a great battle-scarredgnoll, towering 14 feet tall. Yeenoghuis the Gnoll Lord,andhis creations are made in his twisted image. Whenthedemon lord hunted across the Material Plane, packsof hyenas followed in his wake. Thosethat ate of greatYeenoghu's kills became gnolls, emulatingtheir mas-ter's ways. Few others worship the Beastof Butchery,but those who do tend to take on a gnoll-likeaspect,hunched over, and filing their teeth down to points.Yeenoghu wantsnothing more than slaughter andsenseless destruction.The gnolls are his instruments,and he drives them toever-greater atrocities in hisname. Yeenoghu takespleasure in causing fear beforedeath, and he sows sorrowand despair through destroy-ing beloved things. He doesn'tparlay; to meet him isto do battle with him-unless he becomes bored. TheBeastof Butchery has a long rivalry with Baphomet, theHornedKing, and the two demon lords and their follow-ers attackone another on sight.The Gnoll Lord is covered in mattedfur and taut,leatheryhide, his face like a grinning predator's skull.Patchworkarmor made of discarded shields andbreastplatesis lashed onto his body with heavy chains,decorated by theflayed skins of his foes. He wields atriple-headed flail called the Butcher, which he cansum-mon into his hand at will, although he is as likely totearhis prey apart with hisbare hands before ripping out itsthroat with his teeth.,
\CHAPTER 6 I BESTIARYYEENOGHu's LAIR
Yeenoghu's lair in the Abyssis called the Death Dells,its barren hills and ravines serving as one great huntingground, where he pursues captured mortals in a cruelgame.Yeenoghu's lair is a place of blood and death,populatedby gnolls, hyenas, and ghouls, and there arefew structuresor signs of civilization on his layer ofthe Abyss.LAIR ACTIONSOn initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), Yeenoghucan take a lair actionto cause one of the followingeffects; he can't usethe same effect two rounds in a row:- Yeenoghu causes an iron spike- 5 feet
tall and 1 inchin diameter-to burst from the ground ata point hecan see within100 feet of him. Any creature in thespace wherethe spike emerges must make a DC 24Dexterity savingthrow. On a failed save, the creaturetakes 27 (6d8) piercing damage and is restrained bybeing impaled on the spike. A creature can use anaction to remove itself(or a creature it can reach) fromthe spike, ending the restrained condition.
