While it’s aslight shame that there’s no
single security camera that does it all, there
are multiple models that each cater to
different needs and budgets –which, in a
way, is even better.
The Nest Cam IQ Outdoor is our Best Buy
winner,largely thanks to its impeccable
image quality and smart connectivity.
The former makes it aparticularly capable
crime-fighter,asitcan zoom in on details
without sacrificing resolution, and the latter
ensures it can slot neatly intoanexisting
smart home system. It’s expensive and not
as flexible as cameras that can go indoors or
outdoors, but it’s still afantastic product.
At the oppositeend of the scale is the
Neos SmartCam. At just £20, it’s incredibly
good value,especially as you get afull two
weeks of cloud storage forfree.Byrecording
at 1080p,it’s sharper than the BT Smart
Home Cam and, despitethe price,you’re not
losing out on keyfeatures such as night
vision. There are some limitations –stored
clips can only be afew seconds long, and are
only recorded at 15fps –but these don’t
necessarily get in the wayofits usefulness.
The Arlo Pro 2security camera also
impresses. It’s much more of an all-rounder
than either the Cam IQ Outdoor and
SmartCam, being able to work indoors or
outdoors and coming packed with extra
hardware features. As long as you can
find room forit, the inclusion of abase
station proves very handy,both forlocally
storing clips and forblaring asiren at
intruders. The Pro 2covers the basics very
well, too: video quality is high, and your
free cloud storage allowance goes on fora
generous seven days.
