but different meanings. Do not mix them up.

huāyuán li huódòng huódòng, zài chī zǎofàn. Every day after getting up he does a bit of exercise in
the garden before having breakfast. 参加活动 cānjiā huódòng participate in an activity

huólì 活力 [comp: 活 alive + 力 force] N vitality, vigor
huópo 活泼 ADJ lively, vivacious ■ 她性格活泼, 爱交朋友,到处受欢迎。Tā xìnggé huópo, ài jiāo
péngyou, dàochù shòu huānyíng. She is vivacious by nature and likes to make friends, so she is
popular wherever she goes.
huór 活儿 N work, job ■ 这活儿不容易,你干得 了吗?Zhè huór bù róngyì, nǐ gàn de liǎo ma? This
job is not easy. Can you manage it? ■ 没有适当的 工具,这活儿没法干。Méiyǒu shìdàng de
gōngjù, zhè huór méi fǎ gàn. This job can’t be done without the proper tools. 干活儿 gàn huór work,

NOTE: 活儿 huór and 干活儿 gàn   huór are    very    colloquial, and usually refer   to manual   work.

liǎng tiān gǔpiào shìchǎng shífēn huóyuè. The share market is very brisk these days.
huǒ 火 N fire ■ 生了火,房间里就暖和了。Shēngle huǒ, fángjiān li jiù nuǎnhuo le. After a fire was
lit, the room became warm. 着火 zháo huǒ catch fire, be caught on fire ■ 着 火了!着火了!Zháo
huǒ le! Zháo huǒ le! Fire! Fire!
huǒchái 火柴 [modif: 火 fire + 柴 wood] N match (根 gēn, 盒 hé) ■“你有火柴吗?”“没有,我有
打火机。”“Nǐ yǒu huǒchái ma?” “Méiyǒu, wǒ yǒu dǎhuǒjī.” “Have you got a match?” “No, but
I’ve got a cigarette lighter.” 划火柴 huá huǒchái strike a match / 火柴盒 huǒchái hé a matchbox
huǒchē 火车 [modif: 火 fire + 车 vehicle] N train (辆 liàng, 列 liè) ■ 我们坐火车到北京去。Wǒmen
zuò huǒchē dào Běijīng qù. We’ll go to Beijing by train. ■ 上海来的火车晚上八点二十五分到
达。Shànghǎi lái de huǒchē wǎnshang bā diǎn èrshíwǔ fēn dàodá. The train from Shanghai
