Part Of The Inscription Of Diogenes Of Oenoanda (second century A.D.). Over 200 fragments of this amazing philosophical text have now been
discovered. It is thought originally to have been about loom long. This particular fragment sheds interesting light on Epicurean attitudes to the gods:
they should not be portrayed as forbidding or vengeful, and should not be feared, but should be reverenced and accorded the traditional cult-practices.
