I
n the year 2000, the activities of the newly elected Execu-
tive Committee were, following the activity programme
approved by the previous General Assembly, mostly dominat-
ed by the creation of suitable working structures and means
of effective communication, as well as the preparation of
future activities.
The Executive Committee held four meetings in the cities of
Frankfurt, Ljubljana, Nicosia and Paris. The establishment of
a successful system of European University Championships
was without any doubt one of the most important projects
for EUSA as well as for its members. Among others, the or-
ganisation of the first two European University Champion-
ships to be held in 2001 was appointed. The City of Aveiro,
Portugal was chosen among three candidates as the first or-
ganiser of the European University Basketball Championship,
while the organisation of the first edition of the European
University Volleyball Championship was attributed to the cit-
ies of Užice and Vrbas, Serbia and Montenegro.
