The main predecessors of ODUPA were ODUCC – Organi-
zación Deportiva Universitaria de Centroamérica y del Caribe
(University Sport Organization of Central America and the
Caribbean), COSUD – Confederación Sudamericana Universi-
taria de Deporte (South American University Sport Confeder-
ation) and the National Federations of the USA and Canada.
ODUPA is based in Montevideo, in the historic Estadio Cen-
tenario. The Authorities of ODUPA are appointed every 4
years, on occasion of the General Assembly Meeting. The
first Executive Committee was appointed at the time of its
foundation in Blumenau and is lead by the President Mr.
Julio Jakob from Uruguay.
Currently ODUPA is in the stages of consolidating the organ-
ization, which will enable it to be sustainable and effective
in its actions, for which a 3-year institutional strengthening
program “OIKOS” (2009-2011) aimed at providing a con-
tent for its Mission and designing and carrying out strategic
guidelines and continental and regional lines of action for
its development, on the basis of a functional organization,
was launched. However, several activities that confirm that
ODUPA already is a reality have been carried out so far and
