4 th EUROPEAN UNIVERSITIES HANDBALL

CHAMPIONSHIP

The 4th European Universities Handball Championship was

organised in Ljubljana, Slovenia from June 15 to 21, 2009.

12 men and 7 women university teams from 10 European

countries participated in the event organised in co-operation

of the University of Ljubljana, City of Ljubljana, Slovenian

University Sports Association and other partners. The event

started with a wonderful opening ceremony. Around 300

participants were welcomed by the Rector of the Univer-

sity of Ljubljana, the Mayor of Ljubljana and EUSA Repre-

sentatives. The sports program showed quality matches that

ended with exciting finals. The women team from Lublin

was successful also this year, after beating the University of

Ljubljana in the finals 29:27. In the men’s competition the

title of the champions went to Moscow, as the Russian State

University of Physical Education, Sport and Tourism won

against the University of Minho 39:26.
