tonese name for Chinatown still today is “the streets of men of Tang.”
Perhaps the clearest measure of the Tang’s success in building an empire
is that in stark contrast to the Han, after the Tang collapse in 907, it
only took half a century for a new dynasty to reunify the country again
into one integrated whole.
