25.4 Cosmic Rays
Cosmic Rays
Radioactive decay of nuclei is usually in only one of a few modes:α,β, andγ. However, at higher energies there
is a much wider range of nuclear reactions. This is most commonly visible incosmic rays. Cosmic rays are
high-energy particles that hit the Earth’s atmosphere, coming from sources far outside the solar system like distant
supernovae.
