A frequency table can also be drawn to include a tally column. To calculate the mean of a set of data, the values do
not have to be arranged in ascending (or descending order). Therefore, the tally column acts as a speedy method of
determining the frequency of each value.


Example 3:A survey of 30 students with cell phones was conducted by teachers to determine the mean number of
hours a student spends each week on their cell phone.
