http://www.ck12.org Chapter 10. Perimeter and Area

  1. Find the height of the triangle.

  2. Find the perimeter.

  3. Find the area.

Answers:

  1. Use the Pythagorean Theorem to find the height.

82 +h^2 = 172
h^2 = 225
h= 15 in

  1. We need to find the hypotenuse. Use the Pythagorean Theorem again.

( 8 + 24 )^2 + 152 =h^2
h^2 = 1249
h≈ 35. 3 in

The perimeter is 24+ 35. 3 + 17 ≈ 76. 3 in.

  1. The area is^12 ( 24 )( 15 ) = 180 in^2.
