Introduction


A certain optical instrument uses a convex lens to focus an image on a surface, where the image is encoded in
electrical signals. The signals are then transmitted to an extremely fast and complex computer, which interprets the
signals as an image. Can you guess what the optical instrument is? The “instrument” is the human eye. And the
“computer”? It’s the human brain. In this lesson, you’ll learn how the eyes and brain work together to enable human
vision.
