valence electron
Electron in the outer energy level of an atom that is potentially involved in chemical reactions.
vaporization
Process in which a liquid boils and changes to a gas.
vector
Quantity such as velocity that includes both size and direction; represented by an arrow.
velocity
Measure of both speed and direction of motion.
visible light
Range of wavelengths of electromagnetic waves that the human eye can detect.
voltage
Difference in electric potential energy between two positions; also called potential difference.
volume
Amount of space that matter takes up.
