APPENDJX D f CREATURES

MERREGON

The souls of fallen soldiers, mercenaries, and body-

guards who served evil without reservation often find

everlasting servitude in the Nine Hells as lesser devils

called merregons. Every merregon has a metal mask

bolted to its head that allows it to see. The mask can't be

removed as long as the merregon is alive. Beneath it is a

blank face with no eyes, mouth, or other features.

NARZUGON
Paladins who make deals with devils and carry their

twisted sense of honor into the afterlife are especially

valuable to the archdukes of the Nine Hells. Narzugons

roam across the infernal layers and other planes of exis-

tence to carry out the will of their masters.

Every narzugon claims a nightmare (described in the

Monster Manual) as its mount. The nightmare is bound

by infernal tack (see page 224) and must respond to

summons and commands from the wearer of the spurs.

NUPPERIBO

Mortals whose evil acts in life arose from carelessness

and sloth are doomed to become nupperibos. These

blind, bloated least devils shuffle mindlessly across t he

Nine Hells, groping for whatever scraps of fetid matter

they can scoop into their groaning mouths.
