findingit.AsuccessfulDC 15 Wisdom(Insight)checkreveals
thatthetabaxihasnointentionoflettingthecharactersleave

Swirlycarvingsdecoratetwoobelisksattheentranceto
thiscompound.Anovergrowncourtyardliesunderthe
shadeoftallpalms.Stonedoorssealtheentrancetoa
windowlessshrine,withasmallerruinstandingnearby.

TheshrinetothetrickstergodUnkh(representedbyaflail
snail)containsoneofninepuzzlecubesneededtoenterthe
TomboftheNineGods.
8 A.ShrineEntrance
AbovethedoorsiswrittenaninscriptioninOldOmuan:“Unkh
urgesustocontrastalloptionsbeforeacting.”Unkh’spriests
werecontemplativebutpronetoindecision.Theirmessageis
acluetosolvingtheshrine’spuzzle.Thedoorstotheshrine
arenotlockedandhangheavyontheirhinges.Eachdoor
weighs 600 pounds,sooneormorecharactersneeda
combinedStrengthscoreof 20 orhighertoheavethemopen.
8 B.RuinedWorkshop

Theroofofthisworkshopcollapsedlongago,andnow
athickmassofplantsgrowsfromtherubble.Through
themoss,youseehundredsofironkeyshangingfrom
hooksonthewall.Somearebentandbroken,while
othersarerustedbeyondrepair.Therestlook
serviceable.

Oneofthekeysunlocksthepedestalinarea 8 C.Ifthe
charactersknowwhichkeytolookfor,theyfinditafterafew
minutesofsearching.
8 C.ChamberofContemplation

Astatueofagiantsnailloomsbeforeyou.Inplaceof
antennae,ithasfivepseudopodsendinginrockyclubs.
Alongthewalls,sixironkeyshanginsmallnichesabove
stoneplinths.Behindthestatue,acarvedpedestalina
widealcovehasakeyholesetintoitsbase.
Thestatueis 9 feettallandrepresentsthetrickstergod
Unkhasaflailsnail.Threeghasts(undeadChultantribesfolk)
hidebehindit.EachghasthasRasNsi’ssymbol—asmallblue
triangle—tattooedonitsforehead.Theghastsleapoutfrom
behindthestatueandattackassoonasthecharactersenter
theroom.
Noneofthekeysinthisroomunlockthepedestal.
However,theyareallsimilarinsize.Ifacharactertakesallsix
keysandoverlapsthem,theiroverlappingteethforma
particularpattern.Asearchoftheruinedworkshop(area 8 B)
yieldsasinglekeythatmatchesthispattern.Thiskeyunlocks
thepedestal.
PuzzleCube.Unkh’spuzzlecubeishiddeninsidethe
pedestal.Ifacharacterinsertsthecorrectkeyinthekeyhole
andturnsthekeyaquarterturnclockwise,thepuzzlecube
emergesfromaconcealedhatch:
Thepedestalgrindsaroundonthespot.Asitturns,an
ornatestonecubecorkscrewsupfromaconcealed
hatchinitssurface.
Thepuzzlecubecannowbesafelyremovedfromits
pedestal.
Usingthieves’tools,acharactercanpickthelockonthe
pedestalwithasuccessfulDC 25 Dexteritycheck.Acharacter
whofailsthecheckby 5 ormoreaccidentallytriggersthetrap.
Trap.Ifacharacterinsertsthewrongkeyintothekeyhole
atthebaseofthepedestalorbotchesanattempttopickthe
