POLYGONS—PERIMETER AND AREA
The Math 2 test makers like to write problems that combine the concepts of perimeter and area.
What you need to remember is that perimeter and area are not directly related. In Example 5, for
instance, you have two figures with the same perimeter, but that doesn’t mean they have the same
area.
Example 5Sketch what’s described in the question.
Perimeter of Rhombus = 4 × sideArea of Rhombus = base × heightSquare: Four right angles and four equal sides.Perimeter of Square = 4 × sideArea of Square = (side)^25.
A triangle and a regular hexagon have the same perimeter. If the area of the hexagon is ,
what is the area of the triangle?
