How to Make music with SoundForest

your music.

2

Select a sound
Each icon represents something that
makes a noise. Tap to hear the noise, and then
tap in the scene to place it in the right place in
your forest. Your instruments snap to an
invisible grid, 16 across by six down.

3

Listen up
Add more sounds to your scene and then
tap on the yellow dot at the very top to hear
the results. Every time the ball passes above a
sound, that sound plays. Double-tap the yellow
ball for faster playback.

4

Make more
Swipe right-to-left to create a new blank
scene after the previous scene. During
playback the app will play from here before
returning to the beginning of the first scene
and then looping both scenes continuously.

5

Play with pitch
Some sounds are tones rather than
percussion, and where you place them changes
their pitch. For the highest pitch, place the
sound in the top lane. For the lowest pitch, put
it in the bottom lane.

6

Commune with nature
The more music you make in SoundForest,
the more scenes you unlock and creatures you
get to play with: here we’re making music with
melodic lizards, percussive butterflies and
snare drum snakes.

Geniustip!
Many of SoundForest’s
scenes can be unlocked
by watching short
videos. If you’re in a
hurry you can unlock
everything with an
in-app purchase.

Pitch is a measure of
how high or low a
musical note is. The
higher the pitch, the
higher the note; the
lower the pitch, the
lower the note.
