10. Giving directions

Complete the following paragraph with the appropriate words to match the English
translation.

小 FAng： 小馬，我現在在車站的 wàibiAn。____ 你家怎麼 ____？
Xiao Fang: Xiao Ma, I’m outside the station. How do I get to your place?

小馬： 你得 ____ 馬路。____ 了馬路以 hòu 就 __ 南走，在 ___

Xiao Ma: You have to cross the street. After crossing the street, go south. Turn right at the third
intersection.

__ wFng 前走差不多兩分 zhDng, 有一個 yínháng。
Then walk straight ahead for about two minutes (and) there will be a bank.

Yínháng 的 pángbiAn _____ 一個 kAfBi 館。
Next to the bank there is a coffee shop.

Your Chinese friends are coming to visit you at school and you need to give them directions
from the bus station. Translate these directions to Mandarin, using characters wherever we
have learned them.

Remember: 過 means cross (a street) or pass (a location).

1. In front of the bus station there is a road. The road is “Park Road.” (use 就)


2. On Park Road walk south.


3. Pass two intersections.


4. At the third intersection there is a traffic light.


5. Turn left there.


6. That is to say, turn east.


7. That road is East Mountain Road.
