INT. JAY’S LIVING ROOM – DAY
SUPERTITLE: 12:16 P.M.
JAY, a senior in high school, passes the time trying to
balance a spoon on his nose, lacking inspiration to do
anything more.
The door bell RINGS. In no hurry, Jay puts the spoon down,
picks himself up from the couch and heads towards the front
door. Waiting on the other side of the door is NORM, one of
Jay’s classmates and good friends, holding a basketball and
ready to play.
NORM
Hey, man. You ready to throw the rock
around!
He tosses the basketball to Jay who looks at it with
indifference and drops it to the ground.
JAY
Eh...no.
Jay turns back into the house and Norm follows him in with
an extra hop.
NORM
C’mon, you gotta braid your hair or
something?
JAY
(Unfazed)
Shut up.
Jay falls back onto the couch and Norm follows. Norm
tosses the tail end of a Power Bar onto the coffee table
and eyes a nearly empty bowl of cereal while Jay fl ips on
the TV.
NORM
You gonna eat that? I haven’t eaten
since like 12.
JAY
What’d you do? Run here? It’s only like
12:15... Yeah, you can have it,
whatever fl oats your boat.
