Alban Berg (1865–1935)


No other composer has been the topic of so much important literature in the period
immediately following his death. In view of the stunning complexity of the two
operas, Wozzeck(1925) and Lulu(1937), it is all the more remarkable that an array
of perceptive analysis took shape so quickly. A valuable survey of the literature is now
available:
