  2. Lippmann, Friedrich. “Über Cimarosas opere serie.” Analecta musicologica
    21 (1982): 21–59.
    Cimarosa’s opere buffeare well known, but his serious operas are neglected,
    along with other Italian serious operas of the time. Lippmann lists 16 of them,
    with premiere information and comments. He then considers the libretti, form,
    and musical style in exemplary detail. With 16 extended musical examples.

    Compares variants between the composer’s autograph and the version used for

    Reports on an anonymous manuscript in the Library of Congress of an opera
    called Ariadne,ascribed to Reinhard Keiser. Stylistic evidence indicates it is not
    by Keiser but by the “almost unknown” Conradi, Capellmeister of Hamburg
    Opera from 1690 to 1693. The manuscript “enables us to revise considerably
    our conception of opera in Hamburg in the late 17th century.” With photo-
    copies of the manuscript, music examples, and technical study of the score.
