    The premiere at the Metropolitan Opera was 17 February 1927. The opera
    had 14 performances over three seasons. Brody discusses it in the light of a let-
    ter by Taylor that described his intentions for the work and gave his views on
    the function of opera.

Library of Congress now accepts T chaikovsky in place of Chaikovsky, with the first
names as shown here.
