Czech Republic


The country of Czechoslovakia was divided in 1993 into two new nations: Czech
Republic (capital: Prague, or Praha), which includes the old Bohemia and Moravia,
and Slovakia (capital: Bratislava). Most of the literature on music was written under
the earlier designation, so the qualifier “Czech” may refer to both Czech and Slova-
kian music.
