Kaplan’s 3-Step Method for Scrambled Paragraphs


The key to taking control of the test is knowing how you’re going to approach each problem before you ever see it. Because the test
is standardized, you can do this. You can learn and practice a method to help you get through each problem quickly and efficiently.

The Kaplan Method for unscrambling Scrambled Paragraphs has three simple steps:

HAVE A PLAN


It’s about the methodology. If you decide ahead of time how you will approach every question type on the test, you’ll work
faster and more accurately on test day.


  1. Read through each sentence, circling any important Structural Clues.

  2. Use Structural Clues to connect the sentences in such a way that they logically follow the Topic Sentence.

  3. Read through your paragraph to make sure it makes sense.
