- (B) During the early 1900s in the United States, behaviorism was the dominant psychological
perspective. More recently, with technological advances that have made it possible to study the
internal workings of the body and mind, the biological and cognitive perspectives have become
increasingly prominent. Psychoanalytic psychology’s heyday was around the turn of the twentieth
century, but it never achieved the prominence in the United States that it had in Europe. Gestalt
psychology originated in Germany in the late nineteenth century.
