  1. (B) The somatic nervous system is part of the peripheral nervous system. The peripheral nervous
    system is comprised of the somatic (or skeletal) nervous system and the autonomic nervous system
    and collectively contains all parts of the nervous system outside of the central nervous system. The
    central nervous system contains the brain and spinal cord. The autonomic nervous system has two
    parts: the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems.
