Examples of Thesis with Explanation:
Question: Is the majority always right?
- The majority is always right because as human beings
we have inherent instincts that manifest themselves in
the actions and thoughts of the majority.
Question: Do changes that make our lives easier, make them better?
- Ease does not equal superiority. Changes, such as
advancements in technology or an influx of unexpected
wealth, might make our lives easier, but they do not
necessarily make our lives better. With ease comes a
certain idleness, and some changes can eliminate
opportunities to grow and mature that hard work and
suffering might otherwise inspire.
Question: Should people who say what they think when others lack the
courage to speak their minds be considered heroes?
- Every morning my alarm clock wakes me up to a
Rush Limbaugh diatribe. It is the only sound that
gets me right out of bed, as I can’t wait to hush him
up. I need to give the man credit for speaking his mind
and exercising the right to freedom of speech that
America protects, but I would not say that he is a hero
simply because he espouses conservative politics on
a nationally syndicated radio show. Speaking one’s
mind when others lack the courage to do so, while
brave in some respects, does not earn one the title
of hero. Many people say what they think at the
expense of other’s feelings and speak out of selfishness
and ignorance. A better example of a hero would
be a person who sacrifices his/her personal agenda
for the good of humanity as a whole, continually
engaging in brave and noble deeds and words.
