Diagram of a volcano, to point out the relationship between
magma and lava. Students may need extra support to understand
that magma is extremely hot, molten rock that erupts out of the
volcano. When this rock reaches the earth’s surface, it is called
lava. Lava is fl owing, liquid rock that cools and hardens into solid
rock.
