Record each contact from the institution: letter, document,

visit (college coach at your high school, your college visit(s),

or college coach that comes to your home), or phone call.

Each phone call or visit must be recorded. The discipline you

demonstrate doing this important task will be a powerful tool

in your successful recruitment. The recording should include

date, time, coach/recruiter name, and the content of the con-

versation and any planned next step in the process. Be pre-

pared to be a great listener and a great note taker. Keep your

logs clipped in chronological order. The communications log

that follows can and should be photocopied.

It is very important to send a thank-you note to each coach

expressing your gratitude to him/her for taking the time to

speak with you and to consider you for the program. Making

an impression as a mature and intelligent prospect is always

in your best interest.
