Seasons and Weather: Supplemental Guide 2A | Winter 45

 Show image 2A-12: Chinese New Year
The Lunar New Year—also known as Chinese New Year—is a holiday
that happens around the end of January and middle of February. The
color red—a color of luck and happiness—is the color people wear
on Chinese New Year. Homes are decorated with red paper cut into
special designs, and red lanterns are put on display. Children often
receive red envelopes, which are supposed to bring them good luck
and good fortune in the New Year. Families gather together to wish
each other good luck while feasting on different foods and setting off
fire crackers.
