and an example sentence on the board.

Advance Preparation

Make a copy of Instructional Master 4A-1 for each student. Refer

to it as Response Card 3 for this domain. It shows images related

to Sequoyah and the Cherokee writing system. Students may refer

to the images on the Response Card as you introduce and discuss

the content of Lesson 4.

Notes to Teacher

At some point after reading the read-aloud, you may wish to have

students think about and discuss how their lives would be different

if there were no writing system in place.
