author of ‘Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.’ ”]
Tw i nk l e, twinkle, little star,

[Tell the students, “Twi n k l e means to shine or sparkle.” Move your fingers like
they are twinkling.]
How I wonder what you are.

[Tell the students, “Wonder means to think about.” Sign wonder by making little
circles around the forehead.]
Up above the world so high

[Reach up high.]
Like a diamond in the sky.

[Tell the students, “A diamond is a shiny and clear stone.” Make a diamond
shape with your fingers and lift it up high.]
