[Sway side to side like the pendulum of a grandfather clock.]

The mouse ran up the clock.

[Use fingers to show ran up].

The clock struck one,

[Say to students, “Struck means to tell something with a sound. It was one

o’clock, and the clock made one sound like this: ‘bong!’” Use fist to strike the

air and say “bong!”]

The mouse ran down,

[Use fingers to show ran down.]
