is in love with her neighbor Anthony (Jamie
Dornan). However, he is oblivious to her
affection – and disgruntled that his father
Tony (Christopher Walken) has decided to sell
the family farm to American relative Adam
(John Hamm).

  1. Wild Mountain Thyme director and writer
    John Patrick Shanley’s previous film output
    includes 1987’s Moonstruck, for which he
    won the 1988 Academy Award for Best
    Original Screenplay.

  2. Wild Mountain Thyme is adapted from
    Shanley’s play Outside Mullingar, which ran
    on Broadway in 2014.

  3. The film was originally announced in
    May 2019, when Holliday Grainger was set to
    play the love interest of Dornan’s character.

  4. However, by the following September,
    Blunt had replaced Grainger in her role.

  5. Shanley has responded to criticism of the
    film’s inaccurate Irish accents by insisting
    that “you have to make the accent more
    accessible to a global audience”.
