Hilaria felt the wrath of the internet
this holiday season in a bizarre spiraling
of events that began when Amy Schumer
reposted a humblebrag photo of the scantily
clad mom of five holding her infant son Edu.
A new mom herself — if less svelte — Amy
pretended the photo was a pic with her own
19-month-old son. “Gene and I wanted to wish
everyone a happy holiday season,” she snarked,
prompting gripes among her 10.3 million
followers about Hilaria’s enviable post-baby
bod. The mom feud quickly ended, however,
with Amy apologizing after the yogi, 36, posted
a video accusing the comedian’s followers of
“body shaming.”
But the internet wasn’t done with Hilaria
yet. Twitter users picked up on the Spanish-
speaking wellness guru’s accent — of lack of
one — in the clip. “Where did your accent
go. Hmm,” asked one. Soon, the Mom Brain
podcaster, who once appeared unable to
remember the English word for “cucumber”
during a Today cooking segment, was being
called out for faking her entire bio: She was
not born in Mallorca, detractors said, but in
Massachusetts, where she attended high school
as “Hillary” — and had no accent. As one person
who claimed to be a former classmate tweeted,
