The grille center is a continuation

of the hood ornament/handle. The

delicate appearance of this part is

misleading as it is made of strong

die-cast zinc. We then triple chrome-

plate it before the blue paint is

added to the background. We call

this graceful piece “The Swan”.

The 1938 was the first year of a very distinct difference

between Standard and Deluxe. Notice the similarity between

the Standard and a 1937. Then looking ahead, notice how the

’38 Deluxe becomes the basis for the Standard of 1939.
