I becamea veganfora fewreasons.I was
soboredofeverything,asa vegetarian,being
drenchedincheese.I wasreallybecoming
morecognisantofthenegativeeffectsonthe
environmentandalsothewholeanimalcruelty
aspect.It wasa varietyofthingsbecomingthe
perfectstorm.I alsostartedtodoconcerts,like
theAdelaideCabaretFestival,andI realised
thatwhenI hadcheesemyvoicesuffered.Then
whenMikeTysonbecamethefaceofVegan
magazine,thatjustpushedmeovertheedge
andI thought:if hecandoit,I candoit.


Comfortfoodsformearethingslikepotatoes.
I’mkindofa peasant– I likeonebowloffood
that’sallthesameandthatI caneatwitha spoon.
That’sreallymyfavouritething.I madea lotof
rhubarbcrumbleduringlockdown,I suppose
becauseit wasrhubarbseasonbutit’salsoone
oftheeasiestthingstomakeandit’sdelicious.
I lovea vegetableora fruitthatjustsortof
disintegratesintheovenandyoudon’treally
havetodoanythingtoit,it justgoesallgooey.
I alsojustgonutsfora bowlofpeanuts.I’mvery
simple.I alsomadelotsofstews and bean-based
thingsduringthattime.


I lovehavinglotsoflittlemealsveryoften.
WhenI’monset,mygo-tosnackis soup.When
I didInstinctonCBS,theshowrunnercalledme
“soup”.It wasmynicknamebecauseI justhad
soupallthetime.It’sa great,nutritious,delicious,
healthysnackandeasytomake,andeverybody
likessoup.I alsolovenuts, like almonds. I keep
peanuts as a treat.●
