What’s your
best spring bird
feeding tip?
ACROSS THE FENCE
When I see Baltimore orioles around my hummingbird feeders in
spring, I put out orange slices for them. They eat all the way down
to the peels. At one point last year, I had four mating pairs visit.

I have two words for attracting spring birds:
crushed peanuts. Michael Jabs DEFOREST, WISCONSIN
Offer mealworms. They’re a great food
source for parents to feed baby birds.
Megan Long RED WING, MINNESOTA
My bird feeding
secret is grape
jelly. My friend’s
father, Glenn,
made me a
special feeder
so I could serve
it to orioles.

YOUR TURN!
What’s
your best
hummingbird
photography tip?
I put up multiple
sugar-water feeders
and grape jelly cups.
When the birds finally
arrive, you’ll be able
to feed more of
them at a time.
