VegNews Fashion & Beauty Editor Aurelia d’Andrea
dishes the latest in vegan style.

fashion&beauty

How long does it take you to get dressed in the morning? Imagine all you could do
with your time if you whittled your routine down to minutes. With just a few of these
black-and-white basics, you’ll not only distill your style down to its most authentic
expression, you’d have time to hang with friends, volunteer—even save the world.

Ethical Edit

When Aurelia d’Andrea isn’t editing
stories at VegNews, she’s editing her
wardrobe in the hope of trimming her
morning routine down to 15 minutes.

1/ The Kicks
Who’d have guessed
we’d be taking fashion
cues from someone who
goes by the name of “Her
Royal Highness”? Meghan
Markle—otherwise
known as the Duchess of
Sussex—is a fan of French
brand Veja, but that’s not
why we love its wares. The
innovative brand pumps a
lot of cash into research and
development of sustainable,
vegan materials, creating
durable fabrics from corn
waste and recycled plastic
bottles. Plus, they look
good, n’est-ce pas?

4/ The Trousers
Everyone from teenagers to
high-powered executives lives
in jeans these days, but tailored
cotton is a chic alternative that
offers similar comfort and ease,
with a slightly elevated look.
These streamlined trousers
are basic, but definitely not in
the pejorative sense; they’re
a wardrobe staple that can be
dressed up or down, and worn
year round. Like all of Kowtow’s
cotton garments, these are
certified fair trade and organic,
which feels good on every level.

3/ The Tee
Less than one percent of all
cotton cultivated worldwide
is grown without pesticides,
herbicides, or GMOs, and
the fabric used to produce
San Francisco-based Amour
Vert’s soft, breathable tees
is part of that elite figure. Cut
in a contemporary style and
sewn in fair-wage, Northern
California factories, the
classically cool Valentine
t-shirt is made for layering
and living in.

2/ The Sweatshirt

The oversize cut of this
organic cotton sweatshirt
by eco-conscious brand
Twothirds means you’ll
always be comfortable
when wearing it, without
looking schlubby. When
French-tucked (just the
front) into trousers or a skirt,
it goes stylish and modern.
Or top with a tailored jacket,
and you’ll be ready for a
fancy dinner date. No one
will fault you, though, if you
call it loungewear for a cozy
night in with Netflix.
