Part-time four-wheel-drive (PT 4WD) is a system that only gets used when the roadways are slippery. I
recommend you engage the system occasionally during the off-season just to make sure system components
get lubricated and stay operational. If you leave PT 4WD unused during the dry seasons, system components
can and do freeze up from corrosion and non-use. Hub covers loosen up from vibration, allowing road dirt,
grime, and weather elements to get into the hubs and cause problems. A simple check of the hubs and
engaging the system for short runs while driving in a straight line will ensure the system stays operating
reliably all year long.
