For an emergency brake to be an emergency brake, its application and operation has to be separate from the
base hydraulic braking system, an alternative braking system in the event of failure of the hydraulic system.
This is why emergency brakes for the most part are mechanical in nature. Emergency brakes may take different
forms of design, but in the end, a series of cables and levers are the medium by which they are applied. Note
the multiple cables and levers in this system.
