How to Make Your Car Last Forever: Avoid Expensive Repairs, Improve Fuel Economy, Understand Your Warranty, Save Money

This is a four-barrel carburetor. Typically used on larger vehicles with large cubic inch engines, large carbs
such as this have upward of 100 small parts inside to achieve fuel delivery to the engine under a wide array of
driving conditions. An exploded view of this device would reveal to the trained eye a series of “circuits”
through which fuel passed to achieve power, cold start, idle, passing gear, and virtually any other driving
demand. The problem with these dinosaurs was that with so many parts immersed in gasoline that either left
varnish deposits or carried dirt from the gas tank, operational problems were common along with constant
adjustment, cleaning, and repairs to keep them running dependably.
