Tom,

Q I own a 2005 GMC 1500 pickup that won’t start in cold damp weather.

When it’s dry outside the truck runs fine; it only happens when it’s rainy.
Any suggestions?

Ed,

A Repairs of this nature are difficult because you have to replicate the

condition. Try wetting down the engine compartment with a spray bottle of
water while the engine running. With any luck, you will duplicate the
condition you describe. Electrical maladies of this nature are usually tracked
to a poor electrical connection in the ignition system or bad sparkplug wires
leaking voltage. Raise the hood in the dark after wetting down the engine
compartment. If the sparkplug wires are leaking voltage, you will see a light
show under the hood.
