Once inside the engine I was amazed that it exhibited little wear, and it was so
clean. Apparently, by changing the oil every 3,000 miles, dirt, sludge, and thus
engine wear had been averted. Wow! The manufacturers knew what they were
talking about after all.
So in the year 1976 I was convinced that the secret to engine longevity lies in
systematic and regular maintenance as per the car manufacturers. From that day
I vowed to trumpet it from the highest mountains, the lowest valleys, and
everywhere in-between. The location of the automotive fountain of youth is in
your owner’s manual, in the service schedule.
